Thinking about hearing things relating to conventional theory and chord symbols….hearing things (to me means knowing where the notes are on the fretboard when listening to records or other players without playing them) is a very personal thing and as I’m practising today I find myself trying to hear some Sus chords and thinking of a guitar hero of mines advise on how to hear…this is theoretical and steering me away from letting me ear and mind/ body guide my natural curiosity and feelings I get from the chords so I’ve chosen to ignore my hero’s advice….it may be that I will arrive at the same conclusion eventually but lets see what happens!

Also had a great Summer playing Edinburgh Jazz festival for the first time and selling out the gig playing my own music with the Hidden Waves Quartet. The run of silent film gigs with Elie Afif on bass was also great and I think the music is developing each time we play….note to self…keep working on this!
